Train Service Interruptions on the Nordbahn in September Due to Infrastructure Improvements
Starting at the end of the week, train travel on the North Railway in Schleswig-Holstein will be disrupted due to essential maintenance work. The North Railway has announced these changes, which aim to modernize the rail infrastructure.
From August 29 to September 5, the route between Schleswig and Husum will be completely closed. This closure affects Nordbahn lines RB64, RE72/RB73, and RE74/RB75. During this period, replacement buses will be provided to ensure continuity of service for passengers on these affected routes.
Work will mainly occur during night hours, but there may be multi-day closures of sections. Between August 29 and September 5, the railway line between Schleswig and Husum is fully closed.
In addition to the Schleswig-Husum route, there will be multi-day closures from September 1 to 4 between Eckernförde and Süderbrarup. On September 5 and 6, there will be closures between Kiel and Eckernförde/Flensburg.
To accommodate passengers during these disruptions, the schedules of the replacement buses will be coordinated with the connecting times of North Railway trains. This will ensure that passengers can still travel to their destinations with minimal inconvenience.
From September 30 to October 5, there will also be daily night closures between Kiel and Rendsburg.
The maintenance work is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, and passengers are advised to check the North Railway's website or contact their customer service for the most up-to-date information on service disruptions and replacement bus schedules.
Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any potential delays or disruptions. The North Railway apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks passengers for their understanding and cooperation during this essential maintenance period.
