Trans ideology advocates denied a disabled child access to a summer camp.
In a controversial move, a charity named Over The Wall (OTW) has refused to help a seriously ill Scottish child attend a summer camp due to his mother's gender-critical views. According to the charity's call log, they rejected the family, citing a 'lack of alignment with their inclusive environment.'
The mother was asked about her son's 'preferred pronouns' in the application form and responded with 'Seriously?' This is a question she found inappropriate to ask children. OTW's clinical director, Sally McCluskie, questioned the mother about her response, and hours later, her son's application was declined.
The Free Speech Union (FSU) has lodged a formal complaint with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, questioning if OTW strayed from its aim to help seriously ill children. The FSU notes that objecting to parents' political views should never be grounds for denying services to vulnerable children.
This is not the first time trans activists have allegedly prioritized 'inclusivity' over the needs of individuals. In 2023, a case involving solicitor Teresa Steele made headlines for similar reasons.
Interestingly, a tribunal ruled in a 2021 case that gender-critical beliefs are legally protected. Yet, it seems these rulings have not deterred some charities from making decisions based on political views.
The mother, who has decided not to pursue a discrimination case to protect her child's anonymity, is not the only one affected by this situation. The refusal of OTW to help a seriously ill child raises questions about the charity's commitment to its mission and the ethical standards it upholds.
