Transform second-hand IKEA furniture into high-end vintage pieces with DIY bobbin detailing - discover the process here

In the world of DIY home renovations, Kristen Coulson has made a name for herself as a digital creator and expert furniture flipper. Recently, she undertook a top-tier IKEA hack that transformed the classic white HEMNES cabinet into a stylish piece that would fit well in a farmhouse bedroom idea or an antique-inspired guest bedroom.

The hack began with the base, the best-selling IKEA HEMNES nightstand, which Kristen sanded down to the original wood. She then used a sander, wood stain, and playful round bobbin detail to create the custom nightstands. To add a unique touch, she glued half-round spheres from Amazon to the sides of the nightstands, staining both the nightstands and the wooden balls in a rich walnut color.

Kristen advises being patient when sanding off all the IKEA white paint, using a piece of sandpaper to get into the cracks. She also recommends staining the wooden balls beforehand for easier gluing. Once the glue had dried, she added the playful round bobbin detail to complete the transformation.

The hack provides the cozy refresh your home needs this holiday season. A few decorative vases and candle sticks can be added on top of the renovated nightstands to finish off the look. Kristen suggests styling the entire room around the nightstands with pops of the same color stain.

Kristen's IKEA nightstand hack is not only stylish but also budget-friendly. She suggests finding nightstands second-hand or at a relatively cheap cost. The price of one quart of the stain used in the hack is $12.97.

This holiday season, consider giving your home a cozy refresh with Kristen Coulson's IKEA nightstand hack. With a little patience and the right materials, you can transform your bedside table into a designer-inspired piece that will elevate the style of any room.
