Transformation of bus routes 1 and Saturn instigated by forest pasture conversions
The city of Gießen is set to renovate the "Waldweiße" bus stop in Frankfurter Straße, with the work scheduled to begin on August 1, 2025. During the renovation, the bus stop will be closed, affecting both directions.
As a result of the renovation, bus line 1 will not be able to serve the "Brüder-Grimm-Schule" bus stop in Lützellinden in both directions. Instead, all trips to and from Allendorf and Lützellinden on bus line 1 will go via Frankfurter Straße and Allendorfer Straße to the "Brüder-Grimm-Schule (South)" bus stop.
The night bus will not be able to serve the "Brüder-Grimm-Schule" bus stop in both directions in Lützellinden during the renovation. However, the city of Gießen will operate the night bus line Saturn to the "Brüder-Grimm-Schule (South)" bus stop during the renovation.
To accommodate passengers during the renovation, the "Petrus Church" bus stop in Wartweg and the "Röntgenstraße" bus stop in Röntgenstraße will be served as alternatives. Additionally, a shuttle taxi service will be available from the "Brüder-Grimm-Schule (South)" bus stop to the city districts of Allendorf and Lützellinden during the renovation.
The construction traffic light will still be necessary to regulate traffic on Frankfurter Straße due to the one-way closure, potentially resulting in additional travel time. It is advised to contact 0641 708-1400, visit www.stadtwerke-our website/verkehrshinweise, or visit the RMV Mobility Center Gießen in the SWG Customer Center at the market square for information on current detours and timetable changes.
The renovation is being conducted in a barrier-free manner, and it is expected to be completed by September 26, 2025. For any queries or concerns, passengers can reach out to SWG via email at mobilizentrale@stadtwerke-our website.
It is important to note that the "Waldweiße" turning loop will also not be available during the renovation. The city of Offenbach is responsible for the renovations at the "Waldweiße" bus stop on Frankfurter Straße starting August 1, 2025, and the Offenbach Transport Authority (OVB) is in charge of managing the construction measures and organizing detours.
Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and to allow for extra travel time during the renovation period. The RMV Mobility Center Gießen is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, for any further assistance.
