Fire Department Detmold Successfully Neutralizes Sodium Leak at Leopoldinum High School

The leaked sodium had come into contact with moisture in the school's chemistry lab, posing a potential hazard to students and citizens. To ensure the safety of all, the Fire Department coordinated its actions with a specialist advisor and took measures to cordon off the courtyard where the neutralization process took place.
The Mitte fire station was also alerted to ensure basic protection for the city area during the operation. Short, controlled reactions occurred during the neutralization process, but no further details about these reactions were provided.
To neutralize the sodium, it was gradually poured onto the school's courtyard with water under controlled conditions. The process was successful, rendering the hazardous material harmless.
