Travelers face difficulties on the BRB route from Munich to Salzburg
On Tuesday, August 26, travelers on a train from Munich to Salzburg faced an unexpectedly long and delayed trip. The cause of the disruption was a cable break in Munich-East, which disrupted the normal train service between the two cities.
Originally, the train was scheduled to depart from Munich Central Station at 9:55 AM and arrive in Salzburg at 11:42 AM. However, due to the cable break, passengers found themselves in a series of mishaps that extended their journey to nearly six hours.
Upon arrival at Munich Central Station, passengers were informed that there was no direct connection to Salzburg as expected. Instead, they were advised to return to the station and take a train to Kufstein, where a change in Rosenheim was necessary.
Upon arriving at platform nine, the announcement changed to platform 17, causing 500 people to run off again, only to find two trains with 'Salzburg' signs. The detour around Munich North due to a block signal resulted in a 63-minute delay to Rosenheim.
In Rosenheim, passengers had to change trains again because the train couldn't go any further. Throughout the journey, a dedicated railway employee provided information in both German and English, ensuring that passengers were kept informed.
The train finally reached Chiemsee at 2:20 PM, nearly five hours after the scheduled departure. From there, the journey continued, and the train finally arrived in Salzburg at 3:04 PM. The train was operated by DB InfraGO AG.
Despite the challenges, the travelers remained patient and resilient, navigating the unexpected delays with grace. The cable break incident significantly altered the train departure and arrival times, but the passengers eventually made it to their destination. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of travel and the importance of adaptability.
