Triathlon Event Highlights and Traffic Restrictions: A Look at the Ironman 70.3 Competition and associated road closures

Prepare for an exciting sports event as the Ironman 70.3 triathlon is set to take place in Duisburg on Sunday, September 7. This renowned competition, organised by IRONMAN Germany GmbH, will cover a total distance of 70.3 miles or approximately 113 kilometers.

The swimming portion of the race will take place at the rowing course, with athletes swimming a distance of 1.9 kilometers. The transition area for the race will be located on the "P1" at the stadium forecourt. Spectators can follow the race along the course from 8:00 am to 9:45 am, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The running portion of the race will also take place through the sports park Duisburg along the rowing course, covering a distance of 21.1 kilometers. The finish line of the race is planned to be around 12:00 pm in the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena.

The cycling portion of the race is 90 kilometers and will take place from the sports park over the Bridge of Solidarity to Baerl, with the loop course being completed twice.

For visitors to the sports park, public transport will be affected. For the latest information on public transport disruptions, visit this link. Traffic participants should expect disruptions due to the race on September 7, as there will be temporary road closures along the race course from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.

The Bertaallee and parts of the Kruppstraße will be closed and inaccessible from approximately 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on September 7. A strict no-parking zone will be enforced in the stadium forecourt area, with partial enforcement starting on Thursday, September 4.
