Triumph declared by Norway's Labour Party in the country's nationwide voting

In a closely fought campaign, Norway's Labour Party, led by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere, has claimed victory in Monday's general election. The centre-left block has won the election, according to the most votes counted so far, securing just over the 85 seats needed to form a majority in the parliament.

The election in Norway was a significant event, as it involved a struggle between the centre-left and right-wing parties. The Labour Party's victory occurred despite right-wing forces on the rise in Europe. The future of a wealth tax that dates to the late 19th century has been a central issue in Norway's general election.

The Conservative leader, Erna Solberg, has apologised for her party's dismal performance in the election, which placed them third. Sylvi Listhaug, the leader of the right-wing populist Progress Party, expressed satisfaction with their result but expressed concern about "four tough years ahead for people and businesses." The Progress Party achieved its best result ever in a national election, finishing second.

Norway's 4.3 million eligible voters cast their ballots for the new 169-member parliament, or Storting. Rapturous cheering erupted in Oslo on Monday night as Labour supporters gathered to celebrate. In his address to the crowd, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere thanked his supporters.

Stoere stated that the Labour Party's victory showed it was possible for Social Democratic parties to win elections. He emphasised that the party's success was a testament to the Norwegian people's commitment to progressive policies and a fair society.

The election results mark a significant shift in Norway's political landscape, with the centre-left block set to govern for the next four years. The Labour Party's victory is a clear indication of the Norwegian people's support for progressive policies and their desire for a fair and equitable society.
