Wiesbaden Phantoms Secure Second Place with Dominant Performance

The Wiesbaden Phantoms are set to conclude their German Football League 2 (GFL2) season on a high note, as they travel to Regensburg on Saturday, August 30, at 4 pm, for their final game of the season.

In their previous outing, the Phantoms delivered a statement game, securing their place in the GFL2 with a 42:0 victory over the Fursty Razorbacks. This impressive win was crucial, as a win for the Phantoms U19 is necessary to secure second place in the league.

The Phantoms' offensive prowess was on full display in the game against the Razorbacks, with the team scoring an impressive 35 points by halftime, effectively deciding the game. Leon Amberg, the team's reliable kicker, converted the first score and went on to convert six PATs in the game.

Anton Goebel, a rising star in the U19 team, scored his first touchdown in the game, while Lenny Turturica found Justin Schmitt in the end zone for the first score of the game. The victory marks the Phantoms' highest season victory.

The Phantoms' success came despite the absence of six key players, demonstrating the depth and resilience of the squad. Martin Hanselmann, the head coach, sent reserves onto the field early, giving Malthe Schmitt and others valuable playing time.

The Phantoms U19 team will also be playing in the Europaviertel district, providing fans with a doubleheader of football action. The team will be hosting the Nuremberg Rams on Saturday, August 23, at 4 pm, in their next GFL2 game.

The Phantoms have been part of the GFL2 since 2003, and their schedule for the remainder of the season can be found online. The team's home games are played at their "Camp Lindsey" ground.

In addition to supporting the senior team, the Phantoms U19 team will be travelling to Fürstenfeldbruck on Saturday morning to face the Bavarians. The Phantoms host Steve Reimann, an O-liner for the team, who played in his 100th game during the season.

As the Phantoms prepare for their final two games of the season, they will be looking to finish the season on a high note and continue their impressive form. With their sights set on second place, the team will be aiming to continue their winning streak and secure a strong finish to the season.
