Tropical Storm "Lorena" heads towards popular Mexican tourist destination
Governor Víctor Castro made an important announcement at a special civil protection meeting, informing that the recently upgraded Hurricane "Lorena" is heading towards northwestern Mexico. The storm, now a Category 1 hurricane, has sustained wind speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour, as reported by the Mexican National Meteorological Service (Servicio Meteorológico Nacional).
Currently, Hurricane "Lorena" is located approximately 185 kilometers southwest of the popular resort town of Cabo San Lucas. The weather service has predicted the storm's expected landfall location as the west coast of the Baja California peninsula, potentially on Friday morning (local time).
Residents of affected areas have been advised to stay away from bodies of water and prepare for heavy rainfall. This is particularly important as Baja California Sur, home to numerous popular tourist destinations, could experience significant impact from the hurricane.
Schools in Baja California Sur have been closed indefinitely due to the expected heavy rainfall. The hurricane is currently moving eastward across the Pacific, but after landfall, it is expected to move eastward over land towards the Gulf of California.
As Hurricane "Lorena" moves closer to the coast, it may temporarily reach Category 2 status over the sea. The storm's path may impact northwestern Mexico, and residents are urged to stay informed and follow the advice of local authorities.
It is essential to remember that everyone's safety is paramount during such events. Stay safe, and keep a close eye on updates regarding Hurricane "Lorena" from reliable sources.
