Trouble brewing during filming of "Emily in Paris": Chaos ensues amidst production.

The much-anticipated fifth season of the hit series "Emily in Paris" is set to premiere at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, which begins on Wednesday, 27th August. However, the production of the series has not been without its fair share of challenges and unfortunate events.

The series' protagonist, Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, has moved to the Italian capital and taken a job as an agency director. Emily, who has been working in the international film industry for many years, including stints in the US and UK, has found herself navigating the vibrant and culturally rich city of Rome.

The move to Rome has caused some difficulties during filming, with large crowds around the Vatican leading to several scenes having to be reshot. The most significant challenge, however, came in May when filming had to be halted entirely when white smoke emerged from the Sistine Chapel chimney, signaling the election of a new pope, Leo XIV.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck during filming in Venice. An assistant director, a 47-year-old Italian local who worked in the international film industry, collapsed from a suspected heart attack during the final shooting of the fifth season of "Emily in Paris" in Venice. The city administration expressed its condolences to the family of the assistant director.

Political debate has also been sparked by the move of the series to Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron has advocated for the character to return to the City of Lights. Despite this, the series remains set in Rome, providing a captivating backdrop for the story of Emily's life in Italy.

In a somewhat lighter note, it is revealed that Emily also writes poetry and children's stories, adding another layer to her complex character. As the series nears completion, fans eagerly await the premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Filming is expected to be completed by the time the festival begins, ensuring that the series will be ready for its grand debut.
