Trump boasts about criticisms towards 'untrustworthy' American news organizations

In the heat of the 2016 presidential race, Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, has been making headlines not only for his political stance but also for his interactions with the media.

Al Baldasaro, a retired Marine and New Hampshire Republican representative, has defended Trump, criticising the media for focusing on non-essential issues. However, Trump's criticism of the media has been a recurring theme in his campaign. He has a history of attacking reporters on Twitter who he perceives as biased, including Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.

Trump's attacks on the media have raised questions about his temperament to be president among independents or moderates. The New York Times reported that Trump has earned nearly $2 billion worth of media attention for his campaign, nearly three times that of Hillary Clinton.

Despite the criticism, Trump has dominated the presidential cycle with his frequent appearances on television shows and press conferences. His comments towards the media and critics have been met with responses on social media.

However, Trump has also been praised for his charitable efforts. He announced that he had donated $5.6 million to various charities, including $1 million to the Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation. However, Trump has criticised the media for focusing on fault-finding rather than praising his charity donations.

Jake Maier, a Marine Corp veteran and supporter of Bernie Sanders, stated that Trump should not use veterans as props for his agenda. Meanwhile, "VetsVsHate," a group campaigning against anti-Muslim bigotry, has expressed opposition to Trump becoming president.

Jeanne Zaino, a professor of political science at Iona College, has suggested that Trump's attacks on the media have been effective in the Republican primary but could potentially backfire in a general election. As the race tightens, with Trump trailing Hillary Clinton by just a few percentage points in recent polls, the impact of these strategies remains to be seen.

Trump has stated his intention to continue attacking the press, labeling them as "dishonest." Despite the controversy, he expects additional donations to reach $6 million for veteran charities. As the election approaches, the spotlight remains on Trump and his unconventional approach to politics.
