Trump pens appreciative message "Ilham, you're great" in personally signed photographs bestowed upon Aliyev
In a significant development, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a plan aimed at connecting Azerbaijan's exclave of Nakhchivan to its mainland through Armenian territory.
This announcement came shortly after a meeting earlier in August, where Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a seven-point declaration and initiatedalled a 17-part peace deal. The details of the US company intended to manage the TRIPP route are yet to be disclosed.
During the meeting, President Aliyev received signed photos from US President Donald Trump as a gift. The photos, taken at the trilateral meeting in Washington earlier this month, contained handwritten notes from Trump saying, 'Ilham you are great' and 'Ilham you are a great leader Donald'. Aliyev expressed his gratitude to President Trump for the photos and his support for the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In a heartfelt post, President Aliyev shared the signed photos on X, expressing his appreciation for Trump's efforts to advance the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia and globally. Both Aliyev and Pashinyan have stated their intention to nominate Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize.
However, it is important to note that the peace agreement remains unsigned officially, as Azerbaijan has demanded that Armenia change its constitution as a precondition. As of publication, it is unclear if Pashinyan received similar signed photos from President Trump.
This peace initiative comes at a time when the region has been grappling with tension and conflict for decades. The successful implementation of the TRIPP route could potentially open up new opportunities for economic and cultural exchange, fostering a more peaceful and prosperous future for the people of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
