In a surprising turn of events, former Vice President Kamala Harris has lost her Secret Service protection as of July 21. This move, considered high-profile, comes amidst a series of similar actions targeting political rivals by President Donald Trump.

The revocation of Harris's protection was authorized on Thursday, September 1. However, the reasons behind Trump's decision to not renew her security details ahead of her upcoming book tour and 15-city book tour, scheduled to start on September 24 in New York, remain unclear. There is no verified information or credible sources explaining this alleged action.

It is worth noting that former presidents, including Trump, continue to receive Secret Service protection for life. In contrast, former vice presidents typically receive federal protection for six months after leaving office. President Joe Biden extended Harris's protection by an additional 12 months before leaving office.

Harris's memoir, titled 107 Days, is due to be released on September 23. The book chronicles her time as vice president, a role she assumed last summer after Joe Biden abruptly dropped out of the race and she became the Democratic nominee.

This development is not the first time Trump has taken such a step. More than 30 current and former intelligence professionals have had their security clearances pulled by the White House. Former national security adviser John Bolton and former secretary of state Mike Pompeo are among those who have had their security clearances revoked.

Despite these challenges, Harris remains a potential candidate for the 2028 election. However, Trump, who took office for a second term this year, cannot legally run for president again.

As Harris prepares for her book tour and looks towards the future, the reasons behind the revocation of her Secret Service protection continue to be a topic of interest and speculation.
