Tulane to Field Jake Retzlaff as Starting Quarterback Against Northwestern, According to Report
Tulane's Jake Retzlaff Set to Face Northwestern as Redshirt Senior Quarterback
Jake Retzlaff, a redshirt senior quarterback, will lead Tulane against Northwestern on Saturday, as both teams prepare for their upcoming matchup. Retzlaff, who transferred mid-summer from BYU due to a lengthy suspension for violating the school's honor code, has been a valuable addition to Tulane's roster, which includes four transfer quarterbacks.
Last season, Retzlaff passed for 2,947 yards, throwing 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Prior to his tenure at Tulane, he played for Louisiana State University (LSU) and BYU, where he started last season and had a record of 11-2.
Tulane, under the guidance of head coach Jon Sumrall, finished the 2023 season with a strong record of 9-5 (7-1 American). They lost to Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl, but the team showed promise and resilience throughout the season.
Northwestern, on the other hand, finished the 2024 season with a record of 4-8 (2-7 Big Ten). Brendan Sullivan, who has been limited in practice due to a foot and ankle injury, will dress for the game. Sullivan previously played for both Iowa and Northwestern.
As both teams prepare to face off, fans are eager to see how Retzlaff will perform for Tulane and how Sullivan's injury might impact Northwestern's gameplan. The matchup promises to be an exciting one, with both teams looking to start their 2025 seasons on a positive note.
