Tumult on the filming location of "Emily in Paris": chaos and controversy unfold during production.

In a shocking turn of events, the production of the popular Netflix series "Emily in Paris" has been temporarily halted following the sudden death of assistant director Diego Borella.

Borella, a native of Venice, Italy, died of a suspected heart attack on Thursday evening around 6:30 PM during filming. A medical team attempted to revive him using a defibrillator, but their efforts were unsuccessful. He was 47 years old.

Borella was not only a dedicated professional in the international film industry, having worked extensively in the US and UK, but also a poet and writer of children's stories. His passing has left a profound impact on the cast and crew of "Emily in Paris."

The incident occurred in Venice, Italy, at the Hotel Danieli near St. Mark's Square. The Venice city administration has expressed their condolences to Borella's family, joining French President Emmanuel Macron in expressing their desire for Borella to return to Paris.

The production of "Emily in Paris" has faced several challenges during filming, including the concurrent papal conclave in Rome in May, which led to several scenes being reshot due to large crowds around the Vatican. The move of the series' protagonist to Rome has also sparked political discussions.

The fifth season of "Emily in Paris" is expected to premiere on Netflix just before Christmas. Some of the new episodes take place in Italy, both in Rome and Venice. Production is expected to be completed before the Venice Film Festival, which is set to begin on August 27 and will feature international stars such as Julia Roberts and George Clooney.

In a strange twist of events, the production of "Emily in Paris" had to be temporarily halted when white smoke emerged from the Sistine Chapel chimney, signalling the election of a new pope.

Despite the tragic loss, the series remains a global success, with its unique blend of humour, fashion, and culture resonating with audiences worldwide. The cast and crew of "Emily in Paris" are determined to complete the series in honour of Borella's memory.
