The Turkish national women's volleyball team has made history by reaching the semifinals of the 2025 FIVB Women's World Championship. In a thrilling match against the United States, they emerged victorious with a score of 3-1.
Head coach Daniele Santarelli praised the team's performance, stating, "The girls played exceptionally well. The match was challenging, but they showed great resilience."
The second set proved to be a moment of struggle for the Turkish team, as Santarelli admitted, "We lost focus for a bit during the second set, but the team managed to regroup and continue the fight."
However, the third set was a different story, with the Turkish team dominating the court, winning it 25-14. This set was a testament to the team's strength and determination.
The victory over the United States marked the first time the Turkish team conceded a set in the tournament. Despite this brief setback, they maintained their unbeaten run, having previously swept past Spain, Bulgaria, Canada, and Slovenia in the group stage and round of 16 without dropping a single set.
Setter Cansu Ozbay expressed the pride shared among the players, saying, "We are thrilled to have reached this stage. It's a moment of great joy for us all."

Ozbay also mentioned that the team has proven many people wrong by reaching this far, stating, "Some doubted us, but we've shown that we belong here. We're ready for whatever comes next."
The Turkish team will face Japan in the semifinal on Saturday, September 6. Japan also advanced to the semifinals after beating the Netherlands 3-2. Both teams are vying for a place in the championship final.
Santarelli expressed his happiness about the team reaching the semifinal, saying, "We've worked hard to get here, and now we're one step closer to our goal. We're excited for the challenge ahead."
This is the first time the Turkish team has advanced to the semifinals of the World Championship in its history. The team's journey continues, and they are determined to make the most of this opportunity.
