Turkiye's Tourism Sector Soars to New Heights

Turkiye's tourism sector has experienced unprecedented growth, becoming one of the fastest-growing and most resilient parts of its economy. Over the past two decades, the country has invested significantly in various sectors, including education, health, transport, infrastructure, defence, and tourism.

This investment has paid off, with tourism now ranking among Turkiye's top export sectors since 2018. The surge in visitor numbers from 38 million in 2017 to over 62 million by 2024 is a testament to the sector's success. The growth has been so substantial that by 2024, tourism expanded across all 81 provinces in the country.

The Turkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) plays a crucial role in this growth. Established to boost tourism, the agency, under the leadership of its General Manager, Sinan Seha Türkseven, has launched global campaigns in over 200 countries to attract more tourists.

Culinary tourism has been a standout in Turkiye, with several cities earning a place in the prestigious Michelin Guide. By linking tourism with its vast cultural heritage, Turkiye has created a hybrid model that blends high tech-innovation with tradition.

Turkiye offers more than 60 diverse experiences, including sports, archaeology, cruises, cultural festivals, and health tourism. From traditional cuisine and health tourism to sports, archaeology, cruises, and cultural festivals, there is something for everyone in Turkiye.

The success of Turkiye's tourism sector is not only reflected in the increasing number of visitors but also in its economic impact. The sector has become one of the most significant contributors to the country's economy, making it one of the fastest-growing and most resilient parts of the economy.

As the Turkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency continues its global campaigns, the number of visitors to Turkiye is expected to continue rising, further boosting the country's economy and cementing its position as a global tourism destination.
