Turkish authorities have reportedly not initiated any efforts to recoup the funds in question, according to information shared with the Commission.
In the small town of Thiede, located within Salzgitter, Germany, a tragic traffic accident occurred on September 4, 2025, at 7:40 AM. The accident took place on State Road 615, a busy route connecting Salzgitter and nearby towns.
The incident involved a young motorcyclist, who was traveling towards Üfingen, and a car coming from the direction of Üfingen. Reports suggest that the motorcyclist was attempting to overtake a truck while an overtaking ban was in effect, which may have contributed to the accident.
However, the exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined, with the police refraining from providing further details at this stage. What is known is that the collision was a frontal one, with the car, driven by a 29-year-old man from Vienna, hitting the motorcyclist during the maneuver to avoid a sheep on the roadside.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the 18-year-old motorcyclist sustaining serious injuries. The driver of the car involved in the accident was unharmed. Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away from the scene.
The young motorcyclist was rushed to a clinic in Brunswick for treatment. The police cannot currently provide information on the extent of the damage caused by the accident. Further interrogations and investigations will determine the question of guilt.
