Renowned British chef Gordon Ramsay has recently been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a form of white skin cancer. Some signs to look out for include a persistent sore, a pink or waxy lump, a scar that continues to enlarge or bleed, or a wound that doesn't heal, keeps breaking open, bleeds, or crusts over.
Other signs include flat, scar-like areas, particularly on the torso, glossy, waxy nodules, and a slightly raised, pearl-like border around a central depression. Sometimes, the tumor may appear as a red, scaly spot that is slightly raised.
Early surgical removal of basal cell carcinoma is crucial for a good prognosis. Ramsay underwent his operation at The Skin Associates clinic, where his basal cell carcinoma was surgically removed by a professional and responsive medical team.
