Twins clinch a 5-1 victory over the Royals, pushing them further behind in the race for the final AL wild card, with Ober, Buxton, and Clemens playing key roles.

The Minnesota Twins continued their impressive form, beating the Kansas City Royals 5-1 on Sunday. Byron Buxton homered for the 30th time in the game, extending his career high, and Kody Clemens hit a 451-foot homer in the fourth inning, giving Minnesota a 3-0 lead.

Bailey Ober gave a solid performance for the Twins, surrendering one run and four hits in 5 1/3 innings. On the other hand, Michael Lorenzen allowed four runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings for the Royals.

The game saw multiple instances of base-stealing attempts. In the fourth inning, both Buxton and Royce Lewis were on base during a double steal. Luke Keaschall was on third base during another double steal attempt, but no specific key moment was mentioned that led to a run.

Kansas City scored one run in the sixth inning on Vinnie Pasquantino's RBI single. However, the Royals had a potential tying run at the plate in the 8th inning, but Justin Topa retired Salvador Perez on a groundout, and Kody Funderburk struck out Pasquantino to end the threat.

With this win, the Minnesota Twins have strengthened their hold on the AL Central division. Meanwhile, the loss dropped the Kansas City Royals two games back for the last AL wild card.

Looking ahead, both teams will face each other again starting on Monday. The Twins will be led by RHP Simeon Woods Richardson, who started against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. Slade Cecconi (5-6, 4.78) will start for Cleveland on Monday. Ryan Bergert (2-1, 2.61) will start for the Royals. The series will mark the beginning of a four-game series at Cleveland.
