Two individuals on the run following fuel theft incident
In a swift and successful operation, the Broichweiden highway patrol apprehended two suspects red-handed in the act of stealing gasoline on Wednesday, 6th August. The suspects, a 20-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, were caught in the commuter parking lot near Juelich.
The incident unfolded at a commuter parking lot on the Aachener Landstraße, where the patrol team noticed the suspicious behaviour of a Volkswagen Golf. Upon closer inspection, they discovered an open fuel cap and a siphoning device for gasoline on a parked Nissan Note at the same location.
The driver of the VW Golf, seemingly aware of the patrol's presence, fled the scene and headed towards the A44 motorway at around 2 AM. The patrol team pursued the suspects' car and stopped it near the "Juelich-West" exit.
Upon apprehending the suspects, the officers found multiple gasoline canisters and additional equipment for gasoline theft in the VW Golf. They also seized the suspected stolen goods, the suspects' mobile phones, and the getaway car.
The Broichweiden highway patrol is now investigating the case further and the suspects are in police custody. This incident serves as a reminder for drivers to be vigilant and secure their vehicles to prevent such incidents.
