Two-week celebration of diversity, interactions, and melodies in Osnabrück at the freshly-launched Cultural Festival
The Festival of Cultures is set to return to the city of Osnabrück from September 13 to September 30, marking over 20 years of promoting inter-cultural encounters and peaceful coexistence. This year, more than 60 associations from around 25 nations will participate, presenting country-specific cuisine, information, actions, and a vibrant stage program.
The festival, which stands against racism and discrimination, aims to strengthen unity and cultural participation. The opening weekend commences on September 13 and 14, with a free-entry international stage program from 7 PM to 11 PM on the market square. Performers on the opening day include Dikanda from Poland, Divanhana from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Telli Turnalar with music from Anatolia.
Elizabeth Tiemann, chairwoman of the Damayan association, will offer traditional Filipino dance as part of the festival's lineup. The Damayan association, along with several other organizations, will be participating in the event.
The festival's program is extensive, with approximately 30 events scheduled over the two-week period. These events will take place at various locations throughout the city. Highlights include artistic confrontations, political discussions, personal encounters, a Fado evening, a jazz concert, and performances by two guitar virtuosos from Anatolia and Andalusia.
This year, the "Basmah Women's Association" and the "Muslim Youth Community Osnabrück Land e. V." will make their first appearance at the Festival of Cultures. The complete program can be found at a specific location, details of which will be provided soon.
The Festival of Cultures is organized by the municipal Office for Peace Culture in collaboration with several committed associations, initiatives, and cultural institutions. The event emphasizes cultural cooperation and sends a clear signal for peaceful, open coexistence.
Join us in celebrating diversity and unity at the Festival of Cultures in Osnabrück from September 13 to September 30. Let's shape a city that values and respects all cultures.
