The US Open, a prestigious Grand Slam tennis tournament held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, experienced heightened security measures during its final day. The additional precautions were due to the visit of former US President Donald Trump.

Trump, who has attended various high-profile sporting events since his election victory last November, attended the US Open men's final. This visit led to enhanced security measures enforced by the Secret Service, causing stricter entrance controls than on other days of the tournament.

The Secret Service was deployed around the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, but it appears that they were not present around the Arthur Ashe Stadium during the final day of the tournament. Visitors and media representatives were subject to significantly more thorough checks on this day.

Bags were inspected more thoroughly and meticulously, and media representatives were checked by security personnel. The decision to delay the match was made by the tournament organisers to give spectators time to take their seats following the long security queues.

The men's final, scheduled to begin at 20.30 CEST (14.30 local time), was moved back by half an hour due to these delays. The match featured two rising stars, Italian Jannik Sinner and Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, in a highly anticipated contest.

Despite the initial delay, the men's final was not delayed or moved back again after the half-hour adjustment. The Arthur Ashe Stadium, which can accommodate nearly 24,000 spectators, was filled with eager fans waiting to witness the exciting finale.

Trump's visit to the US Open is not the first time he has attended a high-profile sporting event since his election. Earlier, he also attended the Club World Cup final in football near New York. The enhanced security measures implemented during his visit to the US Open ensured a safe and secure environment for all attendees.
