U.S. Tour for Estonian "Zombie Folk" Duo Puuluup Announced
Estonian "Zombie Folk" Duo Puuluup Tours the United States
Puuluup, the Estonian "zombie folk" duo, is embarking on a tour of the United States in September and October 2025. The band, formed by talharpa enthusiasts Ramo Teder and Marko Veisson in 2014, has had a successful 10-year career, releasing five albums and winning numerous awards in Estonia.
The tour will kick off in Manny's, State College, PA on October 9th. Puuluup will then travel to Club Passim in Cambridge, MA on October 5th, followed by performances at CitySpace in Easthampton, MA on October 4th, and Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital in Washington, DC on October 7th. The band will also perform at DROM in New York, NY on October 8th, and Hidden Hall in Seattle, WA on October 12th.
Before the tour's western leg, Puuluup will stop in Minneapolis, MN, Crystal Lake, IL, and other cities. The tour will conclude with a performance at Chandler Music Hall in Randolph, VT on October 3rd.
Puuluup's music is a unique blend of surrealism, modern folklore, and the sound of the talharpa, a centuries-old four-stringed bowed lyre from northern Europe. The band has helped bring the talharpa back from near-death and transformed it into a symbol of Estonian pride.
Veisson, who has a background in anthropology, has incorporated his fieldwork in Northern Ghana and love for West-African music into Puuluup's style. Teder, a multi-instrumentalist, was already known for his solo project Pastacas.
In addition to Puuluup's tour, the band My Morning Jacket is returning to the USA for a nationwide tour in September and October 2025, with stops including New York, Chicago, Washington, DC, and Seattle. Catch Puuluup and My Morning Jacket for an unforgettable musical experience this fall.
