U Sports football rankings undergo changes, with Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks climbing to the top position

The U Sports football rankings have seen some significant changes following this past weekend's games. The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks have ascended to the top, securing their position with a 30-9 victory over the Windsor Lancers.

The Golden Hawks' impressive performance has propelled them to the number one spot, pushing last week's leader, the Laval Rouge et Or, down to second place. The Rouge et Or, despite their 37-15 win over the McGill Redbirds, were unable to maintain their unbeaten streak.

Arnaud Desjardins, quarterback for the Rouge et Or, threw three touchdown passes in their victory, while their defence recorded an impressive eight sacks. However, these feats were not enough to keep them at the top.

The Saint Mary's Huskies, who debuted at No. 10, have had a remarkable weekend, outscoring their opponents 81-14. Their impressive performance includes a victory over the Mount Allison Mounties. The Huskies' rise in the rankings has been noteworthy, and they now sit at No. 9.

The University of Calgary has also entered the rankings this week, making their debut in the Top 10. Their team has risen due to their impressive 53-33 win over the Guelph Gryphons, which has moved them up the rankings to No. 8.

The Western Mustangs, who defeated the Guelph Gryphons with a score of 53-33, have moved up to No. 3. Meanwhile, the Queen's Gaels have moved up to No. 5 after their 38-4 win over the McMaster Marauders. Their defence was particularly impressive, allowing only 151 yards of net offence and eight first downs in their victory.

The Saskatchewan Huskies have also seen a rise in the rankings, moving up two places to No. 7. The Regina Rams, on the other hand, have moved up one place to No. 9.

The Montréal Carabins, who moved down to No. 4 following the Western Mustangs' win, and the Bishop's Gaiters, who moved down one spot to No. 6, have seen a slight drop in the rankings.

Cam Wither, an NCAA transfer, played a crucial role in the Golden Hawks' victory. He threw two touchdown passes and rushed for a score in the game. His contributions have been instrumental in the team's rise to the top.

The Manitoba Bisons, who fell off the rankings after their 21-9 loss to UBC, will be looking to bounce back in the coming weeks. The Thunderbirds, who have returned to the rankings at No. 8, will be a formidable opponent for any team.

As the season progresses, the U Sports football rankings continue to shift and evolve, making for an exciting and unpredictable season. Stay tuned for more updates as the teams battle it out for the top spot.
