UK Family Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Aria Las Vegas

Let's Get Straight to the Point:

A lawsuit, initiated by Emma Vassallo, co-administrator of the late British guy, William Howell's estate, claims wrongful death. This drama unfolds in the vibrant setting of the Las Vegas Strip, where Howell tragically died at the trendy Aria.

William Howell met his untimely end from diabetic ketoacidosis at the Aria, Las Vegas, in August 2023. Emma Vassallo, representing Louis and Jack Howell, his two minor sons, spearheads the lawsuit. The lawsuit targets MGM Resorts International, the Aria Hotel and Casino, Roe Security Company, an ambulance service, two medics, and more.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported last week's filing of this five-count civil lawsuit with the Eighth Judicial District Court. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants’ negligent actions contributed to Howell’s demise and requests compensation for various damages, legal fees, financial losses, and funeral costs.

The Fateful Night

Howell was discovered deceased in his room at the Aria on August 31, 2023, around 12:24 PM. Diabetic ketoacidosis, a potentially lethal condition related to diabetes, was the suspected cause. As a Type 1 diabetic, Howell's body produced excessive ketones.

Initially scheduled to jet back to London, Howell missed his Virgin Airlines flight because an airline employee noticed his apparent illness. Two Community Ambulance medics responded, and he had unusually high blood sugar. Despite this, they only spent a scant two minutes with Howell, who signed a form refusing medical transport. The lawsuit accuses these medics of neglecting to inform Howell about the potential consequences of his decision and failing to perform adequate tests or assess his mental capacity.

After being unable to board the flight, Howell took an Uber back to the Aria and checked into a room at 10:12 PM on August 30, 2023. When the London party didn't see him arrive, they contacted the Aria. Unfortunately, by the time they did, it was too late – Howell had already passed away the following day.

The legal drama unfolds in the bustling Las Vegas Strip, specifically at the Aria Hotel and Casino, a venue known for casino-and-gambling activities. Emma Vassallo, representing Howell's two minor sons, has filed a five-count civil lawsuit against MGM Resorts International, the Aria Hotel and Casino, and several other parties, including the Roe Security Company, Community Ambulance, two medics, and others, in the Eighth Judicial District Court over the wrongful death of William Howell in August 2023 at the Aria.
