Ukraine anticipates that Trump may erupt with frustration
In the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, several significant events have unfolded in recent days.
US President Donald Trump has announced talks with European politicians about finding a solution to the Ukraine war. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed hope for a decisive US reaction after the largest Russian air attack on Ukraine since the war began.
However, US President's special envoy, Keith Kellogg, has voiced doubts about Russia's intentions, stating that Russia has no intention of ending the Ukraine war diplomatically. This sentiment is echoed by the Ukrainian military intelligence service, which reports that Russia is focusing on improving the accuracy and increasing the effectiveness of its missiles, as well as extending their range.
Russia's military actions have not gone unnoticed. Overnight, Russia launched its largest combined air strike since the start of the Ukraine invasion, using 823 drones and missiles. The attack hit the capital, Kyiv, causing at least 5 deaths and 44 injuries, including a woman and her newborn child.
Despite these reports, the Kremlin denies that Russian forces have hit civilian targets in Ukraine. However, extensive video footage, imagery, and official Ukrainian reports paint a different picture.
In response to these developments, the US government is ready to increase pressure on Russia. US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced this stance, while the Ukrainian General Staff has reported destroying a significant amount of Russian military equipment in the conflict.
On the other hand, the Russian-Belarusian exercises are scheduled to end on September 12, with the active phase taking place from September 12 to 16.
Amidst these tensions, Erik Prince, founder of the now-disbanded mercenary company Blackwater, is seeking business in Ukraine's drone sector. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed a desire to withdraw from the European anti-torture convention.
Notably, 910 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in Ukraine in the past 24 hours, according to reports. Despite this, there are no signs of troop deployment near Ukraine's border, as reported by the spokesperson of the state border service, Andriy Demchenko.
US President Donald Trump has also expressed his dissatisfaction with the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, stating "I'm not happy with the whole situation" and "I'm not thrilled with what's happening there." Trump has also announced he will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin "very soon."
However, the U.S. government has not made specific announcements regarding direct pressure on Russia to halt human rights violations in Ukraine. Instead, it has imposed various sanctions on Russia in the past, such as those in September 2014 targeting Russian financial institutions and banks.
The deputy head of the Ukrainian military intelligence service, Vadym Skibitsky, reports that Russia's defense industry is producing 2500 missiles this year, including cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and hypersonic missiles.
These developments underscore the complex and volatile nature of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with both sides continuing to maneuver and respond to each other's actions.
