Unauthentic bank employee under investigation for defrauding senior citizens in Leipzig and Dresden.
In a series of shocking incidents, a 35-year-old Ukrainian man named Eduard V. has been accused of defrauding senior citizens across Germany, including in Dresden and Leipzig. The Regional Court of Dresden is now deciding on the procedure and the admissibility of the indictment against him.
The suspect, who has a previous conviction, is currently on trial at the Leipzig Regional Court for commercial fraud involving about 776,000 euros in 55 cases, with approximately 125,000 euros allegedly benefiting him personally.
The fraud was carried out by fabricating stories about data thefts, account discrepancies, or the need to block the EC card. In Schwarzenberg, a pensioner was defrauded of thousands of euros by these fake craftsmen. People aged between 82 and 93 years were affected in these scams.
In a chilling reminder of the severity of the crime, false police officers took more than 100,000 euros in cash from an elderly woman in a previous incident. Scammers are attempting to obtain sensitive user data and money via WhatsApp, according to the police in the Bautzen district.
In another case, an internet investor was defrauded of almost 800,000 euros. The accused allegedly posed as a bank employee and convinced the victims to entrust him with their money.
Patrick Kurtz, a private detective based in Leipzig, is working with detectives across Germany to solve economic crimes and reunite families. He is not involved in the current case but has been instrumental in solving similar cases in the past.
Meanwhile, the police in Schmalkalden have informed potential victims about fraud on the Altmarkt. The public prosecutor's office in Dresden charged a suspected fraudster on September 2025, at 16:43 Uhr. The indictment involves a total of eight cases and damages of over 40,000 euros.
These incidents are not isolated. There have been multiple previous incidents of fraud in Dresden, Leipzig, Schwarzenberg, and other cities, as reported in various news articles. In one instance, a senior citizen was defrauded of 15,000 euros by a fake actor.
The Regional Court of Dresden's decision on the case against Eduard V. will be a significant step towards ensuring justice for the victims and preventing such fraudulent activities in the future. The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
