Unauthorized tobacco products identified during inspections at HZA-HN
In a recent development, the Heilbronn Customs Office has initiated a tax evasion investigation against a business owner in Untertürkheim, following the discovery of untaxed vapes during an inspection in the Stuttgart region.
During the inspection, the Traffic Routes Control Unit, responsible for ensuring the proper taxation of excise goods such as alcohol and tobacco products, found 295 untaxed vapes with a total liquid content of 6,742 ml. These vapes did not meet the tobacco tax regulations regarding the permitted filling amount, as they contained more than 2 ml.
The business owner now faces potential criminal and administrative penalties for offering these non-trafficable vapes for sale. In addition to this, they will also be required to pay back taxes for selling untaxed substitutes for tobacco products.
The Heilbronn Customs Office's Traffic Routes Control Unit expanded its jurisdiction on January 1, 2024, to include the Rems-Murr district, the district of Böblingen, the northern part of the district of Esslingen, and the city of Stuttgart, in addition to the existing areas of Heilbronn, Ludwigsburg, Hohenlohe, Main-Tauber, and Schwäbisch Hall.
