In a thrilling third unofficial ODI at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, Dale Phillips scored a brilliant century for New Zealand A against South Africa A on September 4.

Phillips' knock of 147 runs came off just 133 deliveries and was a testament to his growing prowess in the 50-over format. The innings included 15 fours and 6 sixes, setting the stage for an exciting run chase.

Phillips' partnership with Joe Carter was particularly noteworthy, as they put on 135 runs for the second wicket. Carter scored 66 runs in the match, while Phillips reached his half-century off a swift 30 deliveries.

However, Phillips' innings was cut short by Andile Simelane, who dismissed him for 147 runs. Despite this, Phillips' teammates Jayden Lennox and Tshepo Moreki chipped in with 2 wickets each, but it wasn't enough to prevent South Africa A from posting a formidable total of 348-5.

Jordan Hermann was the star for South Africa A, scoring an unbeaten century. Muhammad Abbas and Curtis Heaphy also contributed to the total with their performances.

Unfortunately, rain forced an early finish, with New Zealand A 18 runs ahead of the DLS par score. Phillips finished the match unbeaten with 30 runs, alongside Heaphy who also remained not out on 30.

Dale Phillips, coached by Daniel Flynn, Northern Districts Assistant Coach, has now raised his List A average to 32.00. His highest score in first-class cricket remains 149 runs, but with this performance, his career-best score has been updated to 147 runs.

Phillips' impressive form continues to highlight his potential as a key player for New Zealand A, and fans will be eagerly awaiting his next performance.
