Uncovering Continuing Tales at the Base of the US Carbon Market Emissions
The North American CO2 Summit 2025 is approaching, set to take place in the vibrant city of Denver. While the exact date of the keynote event remains undisclosed, anticipation is building for what promises to be a significant gathering in the carbon dioxide (CO2) industry.
The upcoming summit follows the successful event held in Nashville last year, which brought together industry professionals to discuss key issues and emerging opportunities. This year, the focus is on the business case, sustainability, sourcing and supply chain security, critical innovations, and new investments in the CO2 space.
The US West Coast has been a source of concern for the CO2 industry due to extended plant outages. The Torrance plant in California and the Phillips 66 refinery in Los Angeles have been experiencing issues, potentially overlapping and affecting the supply during the summit. Additionally, there have been concerns about the impact on three key crude CO2 offtakers, coming off the back of an overall tight market across the US since May 2024.
The Trump Administration's policies have also had an impact on the industry, with a slowdown in green initiatives that could affect the CO2 sector. However, an amendment to the 45Q tax credit has been made this summer, which may provide some relief for the industry.
Another concern raised in a separate poll at the 2024 summit was the security of traditional sources such as natural wells, ammonia, and ethanol. A staggering 56% of participants expressed concern over this issue.
Despite these challenges, this year's summit is unusual as it is being held without any major shortages or widespread tightness in supply. This provides an opportunity to focus on emerging opportunities and business cases in the CO2 sector, such as biogas, biogenic CO2, fuel cells and clean power generation, and direct air capture (DAC).
The CO2 Summit in Denver will also feature discussions on dry ice markets and everything related to this area of growth. The event is expected to be popular, with tickets selling faster than expected, leaving only one month remaining until the event.
Single delegate tickets for the North American CO2 Summit 2025 are available for $1,795, while Corporate Bookings of 3 delegates or more can be secured for $1,530 per person.
