Over the Labor Day weekend, a tragic incident occurred at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Ohio. The deceased individual has been identified as Skyler Correll, a 32-year-old local resident.
According to reports, Correll performed a flip off a 20-foot cliff into the quarry. A lifeguard on duty witnessed the jump and upon resurfacing, noticed blood around Correll's nose. After the initial impact, Correll went under the water.
Emergency responders arrived about five minutes after CPR was started. After about two to three minutes, a second lifeguard was called into the water to bring Correll back up above water. The lifeguard pulled him onto a board and began CPR. Despite the immediate efforts, Correll was pronounced dead just before 5:30 p.m.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Portage County Sheriff's Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding Correll's death. The incident is being treated as an apparent cliff diving death.
WOIO has reached out to Nelson's Ledges Quarry Park for comment but has yet to receive a response.
