The city of Solingen is set to host the 7th annual Solingen Kippa Day, a powerful event aimed at combating antisemitism, racism, intolerance, and xenophobia. Originally scheduled for September 5, the event has been postponed to Monday, September 30, due to the tragic terrorist attack at the "Festival of Diversity."

The event, which will take place on Walter-Scheel-Platz in front of the Solingen town hall, is open to the public and will be accompanied by music. The purpose of the day is to promote unity and solidarity among the people of Solingen, sending a clear message that the city will not yield to terrorists who seek to intimidate them.

Mayor Tim Kurzbach, Leonid Goldberg, Gabriela Lauenstein, and Dr. Ilka Werner are scheduled to speak at the event, sharing their thoughts and ideas on how to foster a more inclusive and tolerant society.

Men are encouraged to wear a kippa as a sign of solidarity with their Jewish fellow citizens. Traditional religious head coverings will be available for loan on site during the event.

The city of Solingen, the Jewish Cultural Community of Bergisch Land, and the Solingen/Ness Ziona Friendship Association are organizing the event, working together to create a safe space for open dialogue and understanding.

The Solingen Kippa Day has been taking place annually since 2018, serving as a testament to the city's commitment to diversity and inclusion. The event is a reminder that, despite adversity, the people of Solingen stand united in their fight against intolerance.

As the date approaches, the people of Solingen look forward to coming together to celebrate their shared values and reaffirm their commitment to a society that embraces and respects all. The 7th Solingen Kippa Day is scheduled for Monday, September 30, at 4:30 PM.
