United States Politics | Trump announces military action on vessel in the Caribbean...

In a surprising turn of events, President Donald Trump announced a U.S. military strike against a drug-carrying vessel in the southern Caribbean Sea. The announcement was made on Truth Social by the former president himself.

According to the reports, the vessel departed from Venezuela and was operated by the Tren de Aragua gang, a notorious drug cartel that has expanded considerably in recent years due to the economic turmoil in Venezuela. The gang, which originated more than a decade ago in Venezuela's central state of Aragua, has been causing significant problems for the region, with more than 7.7 million Venezuelans fleeing to other Latin American countries or the U.S.

The strike occurred in International waters while the vessel was transporting illegal narcotics. The U.S. military was supported by an intelligence organization in identifying members of the Tren de Aragua gang during the military action, although the specific organization is not explicitly named. President Trump claimed that 11 people were killed in the strike.

The video posted by President Trump showed a small vessel appearing to explode in flames, but it was not clear if the craft was carrying as many as 11 people or if it had large or clear stashes of drugs. The White House did not immediately explain how the military determined that those aboard the vessel were Tren de Aragua members.

The U.S. had recently announced plans to boost its maritime force in the waters off Venezuela to combat threats from Latin American drug cartels. This latest strike is a clear indication of the U.S.'s commitment to combating the illegal drug trade in the region.
