The picturesque Hochsauerlandkreis played host to the Deutschland Tour 2025, a major cycling event often compared to the Tour de France. The second successful Lidl Germany Tour to pass through the Sauerland occurred during this year's event.

During the second and third stages, numerous police officers from the Hochsauerlandkreis Police Department (HSK) were deployed, working alongside local authorities, the fire department, Red Cross, THW, and volunteer marshals. The police operation in the two districts was led by the director of traffic, supported by other police headquarters across the region.

The escort section team, consisting of approximately 20 police motorcycle officers and riders from various federal states, accompanied the entire race from Essen to Magdeburg. After the third stage, they had another 200 km to Halle for the fourth stage. The escort section team's responsibility was to clear any remaining traffic from the route to ensure a safe passage for the driver field.

The Hochsauerlandkreis Police Department's duty section leader, Police Director Victor Ocansey, praised the deployment concept as a success. Thomas Vogt, head of the police department, also stated that the Deutschland Tour presented high demands on the police in HSK.

The focus of the safety measures was not only on the professional cycling race but also on the festivities at the stage finish. Arnsberg, within the Hochsauerlandkreis, featured a challenging loop course that athletes navigated twice through the city center. Christopher Hilverling, first deputy mayor of Arnsberg, emphasized the challenges of ensuring a secure and comprehensive traffic concept for the event.

The second stage from Herford to Neheim was named the "king stage," with numerous short, steep climbs. POK Kevin Kirschner, a motorcycle officer from the Hochsauerlandkreis Police Department, supported the escort section for the first time during the third stage in Arnsberg.

Hilverling expressed gratitude towards numerous volunteer helpers, sponsors, colleagues from the administration, and the police for their professional cooperation and support. The preparation and execution of the safety measures required meticulousness and many resources, according to the police director.

The head of the police directorate coordinating the police operation during the Germany Tour 2025 in the Hochsauerlandkreis was the Kreispolizeibehörde Hochsauerlandkreis, but the specific name of the leader is not mentioned in the available sources.

The Hochsauerlandkreis proved to be an ideal location for the Deutschland Tour 2025, with its dense forests, winding country roads, and challenging elevation profiles providing a picturesque backdrop for the event. The collaboration between the police, local authorities, and volunteers ensured a safe and successful tournament, making it a memorable experience for both the participants and the spectators.
