Filip Schnack, the German actor, has been making waves at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival with his role in the film "Looking at the Sun."

Schnack was contacted by the fashion house Dior to dress him for the world premiere on the red carpet. The film, directed by Mascha Schilinski and co-directed by Piotr Stasik, is in competition at the festival.

Schnack plays Fritz, a character who doesn't speak but embodies deep anguish after a staged work accident. His performance, according to the author, gives the film much of its impact. The silent orgasm depicted on Schnack's face in one scene adds to the film's emotional resonance.

The German premiere of "Looking at the Sun" took place the previous night. Schnack was also speaking at the Filmfest Munich.

The actor's original dream was to be a model in Japan, but he went to school there at the age of 17. His time in Japan, he says, was enriching, with the concept of Ikigai, roughly meaning what one wants to live for, being a particular highlight.

After a successful "Tatort" in Dresden at the beginning of the year and a larger role in the Netflix series "Cassandra," many scripts are likely to land on Schnack's agents' desks.

"Looking at the Sun" is described as a film that can only be felt, set in trembling soundscapes. It is one of the 35 films in a list titled "Successful Plot Twists: These 35 Films Will Leave You Speechless," alongside films like "Konklave" and "Fight Club."

Spike Lee and Jim Jarmusch are also participating in the Cannes Film Festival, but their new films are out of competition. Schnack's film, however, is generating a lot of buzz.

After receiving the invitation for "Looking at the Sun" to compete in the Cannes Film Festival, Schnack called his mother to share the good news. The actor was featured in the online galleries of British GQ and French VOGUE as one of the best-dressed men of the Cannes Film Festival.
