Unpredictable outlook for cultural panorama
The theater landscape in Weiden is set to undergo significant changes in the near future. After nine years of consistent support, the association "Friends of the Theater" has been providing approximately 18,000 euros annually to the Theater Weiden. However, this support will soon be passed on to a new sponsoring association, Förderverein Theater Weiden e.V., established to secure the theater's continued operation after city subsidies end in 2024.
Despite the change, the city of Weiden will continue to play a crucial role in supporting the theater. The Culture and Leisure department, the Cultural Office, the Cultural Council, and the Cultural Committee will all contribute to the theater's funding. The city will also support the theater through various departments and offices, although it will no longer provide direct funding.
The Theater Weiden will continue to receive substantial support from the "Friends of the Theater" association, with an estimated annual contribution of around 90,000 euros. The association has a new chairman, Axi qcc lcqlicxlciqci Mciq, and a new member, Mil Ylic jlx Qxliclc Aüccl, has been appointed to the board of the theater.
Unfortunately, the number of visitors to the Theater Weiden is expected to decrease. This decline, coupled with the loss of city funding, may lead to a loss of diversity in the theater landscape of Weiden in the foreseeable future. The theater's last performance will take place on September 18, 2022.
However, it's important to note that the association "Theater Weiden" will continue to exist. The new sponsoring association, Förderverein Theater Weiden e.V., will take over the responsibility of ensuring the theater's continued operation. The "Friends of the Theater" association will also adjust their annual contribution to the theater, providing between 6,000 to 10,000 euros annually.
As the Theater Weiden navigates these changes, it remains a vital part of Weiden's cultural scene. The city, the "Friends of the Theater" association, and the new sponsoring association will all work together to ensure the theater's continued success and the preservation of its rich cultural heritage.
