Unpublished creativity granted cash rewards: Launch of Contest Youth 2025 by INE and Yaaj Mexico; here's what you need to qualify
The National Electoral Institute (INE) and Yaaj Transformando Tu Vida A.C. (Yaaj Mexico) have announced the Juventudes 2025 Contest, a unique opportunity for young people in Mexico to showcase their creativity and passion for social causes.
The contest, open to individuals aged 18 to 29 with a voter ID, encourages the submission of original proposals in four categories: short story, short video, digital illustration, and poetry. To participate, one must register and submit their work exclusively through an online form.
To ensure the originality of the works, they must be unedited and not have participated in other contests. Each participant is also responsible for guaranteeing the legitimacy and transfer of rights to their work. Co-authored works are not accepted. All files must be sent identified with the title and pseudonym of the author.
The jury, consisting of 12 recognised specialists, will evaluate the works based on creativity, originality, quality, and argumentative pertinence. Special recognition may be given for outstanding works, or honorable mentions may be published.
The first three places in each category will receive cash prizes: First place - $8,000.00, Second place - $4,000.00, Third place - $2,000.00. Participants who have won in previous editions can participate again, as long as they present proposals in categories different from those previously awarded.
The contest aims to promote the participation of diverse youth in the exercise of their political and electoral rights throughout Mexico. Participants can choose one of the following themes: exercise of the vote and participation in electoral processes, youth leadership in social causes, strategies and alliances of young women in decision-making, cyberactivism, and the political participation of diverse youth.
The transfer of rights on works will be for a period of 10 years, exclusively for institutional, educational, and rights promotion purposes. The authorship will be recognised to creators, although the patrimonial rights will temporarily belong to the INE.
Results will be announced on November 7, 2025, on the official pages of the INE and Yaaj Mexico. The award ceremony will be broadcast on INETV, the official YouTube channel of the INE.
