Unraveled Mystery: Journey of Kate and William on Luxurious £20million Yacht Lady Beatrice in Greece
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, recently spent a holiday on a superyacht named Lady Beatrice in the idyllic island of Kefalonia. The royals were taken by limousine to Agia Pelagia, a small marina near the village of Svoronata, five minutes south of the airport, on July 21.
The Lady Beatrice, a luxurious vessel capable of accommodating 16 passengers, boasts dining areas on the main and lower decks, and a pool on its top deck. The superyacht was cruising the Ionian seas in the days leading up to the royals' arrival, and on the day they arrived, it mysteriously disappeared from marine tracking systems, suggesting it had switched off its Automatic Identification System.
However, the search results do not provide information about the current owner of the yacht on which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last traveled. Previously, the Lady Beatrice was owned by Sir Frederick and Sir David Barclay, former owners of the Telegraph Media Group. This year, it was sold for around £20million to British financier and entrepreneur Peter Dubens.
Dubens, who keeps a low profile, started out as a chauffeur for Joe Lewis, the billionaire former owner of Tottenham Hotspur. By the early 2000s, Dubens had made hundreds of millions of pounds, and he made his initial fortune selling color-changing T-shirts in the 1980s. Dubens is the founder of private equity firm Oakley Capital and chairman of Time Out Group, the magazine publisher.
Interestingly, there appears to be no obvious link between Peter Dubens and the royals. Two years ago, Oakley Capital became a minority stakeholder in the family-owned business that runs Thomas's Battersea, the school attended by Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Yet, it remains unclear if Dubens was the owner of the Lady Beatrice during the royals' holiday.
As the royals spent the next few days anchored at various points around the island, they undoubtedly enjoyed the serene beauty of Kefalonia. The exact details of their itinerary remain private, but their presence in the picturesque Greek island undoubtedly added a touch of royal glamour to the local scene.
