Unraveling Strategies for Dementia Prevention and Awareness
The Landshut City Library is set to host an interactive exhibition called "Hands-on Dementia" from September 9th to 10th. This unique event aims to foster understanding and empathy for those affected by dementia, while also highlighting the importance of dementia prevention.
The exhibition, open from 10 am to 4 pm on Tuesday and from 10 am to 12 pm on Wednesday, features 13 interactive stations that allow visitors to experience daily life from the perspective of someone with dementia. Admission to the exhibition and lecture is free, and no registration is required.
On Tuesday at 1:30 pm, a lecture titled "Prevention in Dementia - Memory loss does not have to be fate" will be held. This lecture will be delivered by gerontologist Johanna Myllymäki, a renowned expert in the field of dementia prevention. The lecture will last for one hour, followed by a Q&A session.
Experts from the Niederbayern Dementia and Care Center will accompany the exhibition throughout, ensuring a comprehensive and informative experience for all attendees.
In addition to the exhibition and lecture, the city library will provide a selection of non-fiction books and guides on the topic of dementia for visitors to peruse. The aim of these resources is to provide insights into current research findings and offer practical advice on how to reduce risks and strengthen memory in the long term.
