In an unexpected turn of events, a family dispute on platform seven at the Halle (Saale) train station on July 10, 2022, at 21:50, resulted in an intervention by the Federal Police.

According to reports from the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg, as transmitted via news aktuell, the family in question consisted of the parents, two six-year-old children, and a grandmother. The mother, who was heavily intoxicated, is said to have verbally and physically assaulted railway security personnel when they asked her to leave the train.

The incident escalated further when the mother allegedly treated her children roughly, shouting at them, pushing them, and hitting them. Witnesses report that the grandmother tried to de-escalate the situation but was pushed over by her son-in-law, injuring herself.

The father is reported to have interfered with the officers attempting to restrain the mother, while the mother refused a voluntary breath alcohol test and prevented her mother from taking one as well. An ambulance was called, but the intoxicated suspect refused treatment.

Following the incident, the family was taken to the Federal Police Station at Halle (Saale) Central Station, and the relevant youth welfare office was informed. A worker from the office temporarily took the little girls into care.
