Unseen Vehicles: A Mystery on Four Wheels

In the ever-evolving world of automotive technology, several automotive giants are making strides in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Here's a roundup of some notable developments from Renault, Volkswagen, and Chevrolet (now under General Motors), focusing on their offerings in various international markets.

Renault, a French automaker, has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio in Mexico. The Koleos, an intermediate SUV, is available for approximately CAD $60,000, while the hybrid version boasts an impressive range of 1000 km per tank. For those seeking a more compact electric family car, the Renault Megane is also on offer, priced at around CAD $2,000 more than the Koleos, with a range of 480 km per charge.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen has announced plans to launch the ID.2, a compact family car, a year ahead of schedule. Expected to retail for around $40,000, the ID.2 is set to join the ID.1, whose prototype, the ID.EVERY1, is slated for a 2027 launch. However, it's important to note that Volkswagen's plans for the ID.1 and ID.2 do not include North America.

In the South American market, Chevrolet (GM) offers the Spark EUV, a small SUV with a range of 400 km. Priced at approximately CAD $17,000 in its home market, the Spark EUV is yet to be introduced in Mexico, where GM plans to launch it by 2026 for around CAD $30,000.

The Chinese automaker MG has also entered the EV scene with the MG4. This compact electric SUV boasts a range of 320 km per charge, making it the most affordable electric compact SUV from MG, priced at $35,000. The MG4's range can extend to 520 km with a gasoline generator, albeit at a higher price of $43,000. However, as of the provided information, the MG4 is not available in Canada.

It's worth mentioning that General Motors stopped selling the Chevrolet Spark EV in Canada in 2016. The MG brand, once British, is now Chinese.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, these developments in electric vehicles show a promising future for cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions across the globe. Stay tuned for more updates!
