Unsolicited attendance by Bobbi Althoff at Drake's SXSW party revives speculation about their alleged romance amidst controversy
In the bustling city of Austin, Texas, the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival was in full swing. This year's event, celebrated for its fusion of music, education, and culture, saw the gathering of celebrities such as Sydney Sweeney, Stephanie Hsu, Lily Singh, Ryan Gosling, and Emily Blunt.
However, one incident that has raised eyebrows and sparked speculation took place at a Mayfair nightclub following the premiere of a new documentary series, Magic City: An American Fantasy, co-executive produced by Drake's company DreamCrew Entertainment.
Onlookers stated that Bobbi Althoff, a popular podcast host, was removed by security immediately upon attempting to enter the event uninvited. The alleged incident occurred after the premiere, and it seems that this could be the spark that ignited an ongoing feud between Bobbi and Drake.
Bobbi and Drake had a friendly relationship in the past, with Drake being a guest on her podcast. However, things took a turn when, in February 2024, Bobbi was instantly removed from Drake's after-party by security guards. Fans discovered that Bobbi and Drake stopped following each other on Instagram shortly afterwards.
The feud escalated when, in October 2023, Bobbi posted a video of herself looking unimpressed at a Drake concert in August 2023. This was followed by a line in Drake and Lil Yachty's song 'Another Late Night' that seemed to take a hit at Bobbi.
Bobbi's husband, Cory Althoff, a software engineer and author, filed for divorce in February 2024, listing their date of separation as 4 July, which is the date Bobbi's cosy, bed-bound interview with Drake aired. Bobbi denied rumors of an affair with Drake and getting a divorce from Cory in around one month after her interview with Drake.
A source from the party told The Daily Mail that Bobbi was not invited to the event and her removal was likely due to past history between her and Drake. TikTok users speculate that this could explain the alleged tension between Drake and Bobbi.
The SXSW festival also featured the premiere of the documentary "Brandy Hellville & the Cult of Fast Fashion". Despite the controversy surrounding Drake's after-party, the festival continued to attract a multitude of music and culture enthusiasts.
