Unveiled Plans for Borderlands 4's Endgame and Post-Launch: Characters may commence at level 30 once the campaign concludes, featuring weekly challenges, with the initial story addition showcasing "cosmic horror" in a "grisgrisier, somber tone."
Borderlands 4 fans, get ready for an action-packed year ahead! Gearbox Software has announced a series of exciting updates for the popular looter-shooter game, scheduled to roll out throughout 2025 and 2026.
Kicking things off, the first paid Bounty Pack DLC is set to arrive in 2025. This expansion will bring new missions, a new boss, an array of new Legendary gear, cosmetics, and a new vehicle to the game. If that's not enough to whet your appetite, Gearbox has also teased two more Bounty Packs and another story pack for after Q1 2026.
For those who can't wait, a free "mini event" called Horrors of Kairos is planned for October. This event promises new Legendary weapons, cosmetics, and a new weather variant for players to enjoy.
The endgame of Borderlands 4 is shaping up to be just as exciting as the main campaign. A new Invincible boss, offering new Legendary weapons and another level in the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, is scheduled to release before the end of the year. Weekly Wildcard rotating missions will also be part of the endgame, culminating in a boss fight and guaranteed Legendary drop.
For those who have completed the first campaign, the reimagined Ultimate Vault Hunter mode will be unlocked. This mode supports online matchmaking for all endgame activities, making it easier than ever to team up with friends and take on the toughest challenges.
In addition to the Bounty Packs, Gearbox has also announced the first story pack for Borderlands 4, titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This expansion, scheduled for release in early 2026, will introduce a new region of Kairos to explore, a new playable Vault Hunter, and new Legendary gear. The story will focus on Ellie with a bloodier, darker tone.
To make things even more enticing, new characters can start at level 30 if the player has beaten the story in Borderlands 4. Players can then rank up by running through increasingly difficult levels in the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode.
Lastly, it seems that more time will be spent on the Borderlands spin-off, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford hinted at this in a recent interview.
With so much content on the horizon, it's safe to say that Borderlands 4 is set to keep players entertained for months to come. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available!
