South Africa's potential use of an ineligible player may impact the Group C standings, with a ruling expected soon. As it stands, Nigeria is currently fourth in the group with seven points, trailing group leaders South Africa who have 13 points. Nigeria must win their upcoming matches against Rwanda at home and South Africa away to have a chance at qualification.

In Group C, Morocco is undefeated in the qualifiers, having won five out of five games. They could become the first African team to secure early qualification with victories against Niger and Zambia. Libya and Angola remain dark horses in the group.

Group H is a tight race, with Tunisia currently four points clear. Wins over Liberia and Equatorial Guinea would likely decide Tunisia's qualification, but an appeal from Equatorial Guinea could potentially change the standings.

In Group B, DR Congo, Senegal, and Sudan are separated by just one point. Senegal's showdown with Sudan and their clash against DR Congo could be decisive for qualification. Sudan is chasing a historic first World Cup appearance despite turmoil at home.

Group F is a tight contest between Ivory Coast and Gabon, separated by a single point. Burundi and Seychelles are the next opponents for both teams.

Group A is led by Egypt, who are five points clear of Burkina Faso. Egypt holds a potential ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup if they win their remaining matches against Ethiopia and Djibouti. Burkina Faso's hopes for qualification rely on an upset and a perfect finish to their campaign.

In Group G, Algeria leads by three points, with trips to Guinea and a home tie with Botswana upcoming.

Globally, several teams including Spain, Japan, New Zealand, Iran, and Argentina have already qualified, and many others continue to compete in group stages or playoffs to secure their spots. Currently, in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, Algeria leads UEFA Group E with two wins from two matches, directly qualifying; Georgia is in second place advancing to playoffs, while Turkey and Bulgaria are in more difficult positions.

The African qualifiers are shaping up to be an exciting race, with many teams fighting for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Stay tuned for more updates!
