Upcoming Harry Potter Sequence: The Six Celebrities Involved
The Harry Potter universe is set to return to our screens, this time in the form of a multi-part adaptation by HBO. The series, which is yet to announce a specific start date, will closely follow the original books by Joanne K. Rowling.
John Lithgow, a multiple award-winning actor known for his work in "The Crown" and "Dexter", has been confirmed to play Albus Dumbledore in the series. Joining him is Janet McTeer, who will portray Professor McGonagall. Nick Frost will take on the role of the lovable Hagrid, while Luke Thallon will play Professor Quirrell. Rounding out the initial cast is Paapa Essiedu, who will portray Severus Snape. Lastly, Paul Whitehouse has been confirmed to portray Argus Filch.
However, the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione have not yet been officially cast. An open call for applications for these roles was made last fall, but the selection process appears not to be completed yet. Rumours about potential actors for these roles have been circulating for months, with names like Mark Rylance and Cillian Murphy being mentioned.
The filming for the series is expected to take place in the UK, but specific locations have not yet been released. Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod are the showrunner and director of the new adaptation, respectively.
As for other familiar characters from the Harry Potter universe, apart from Albus Dumbledore, no specific roles have been announced yet. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new venture into the world of Harry Potter.
