Apple is contemplating a significant change in its display technology, with the potential introduction of iPhones featuring Tandem-OLED displays after 2028. This shift, if confirmed, could bring improvements in brightness, energy efficiency, and lifespan to the popular smartphone range.

The possibility of Apple adopting Tandem-OLED technology was first reported by "The Elec" magazine. The technology, which uses two layers of organic RGB light, is already in use in iPad Pro tablets.

For the production of Tandem-OLED technology, Apple is said to be considering Samsung Display and LG Display. LG Display, in particular, has presented a simplified Tandem-OLED display technology to Apple, expressing confidence in its capabilities.

However, the decision to proceed with Tandem-OLED displays for iPhones has not yet been finalized by Apple. The company is reportedly deliberating between LG Display, Samsung Display, and BOE to meet volume and pricing needs.

In the proposed Tandem-OLED for iPhones, the red and green subpixels remain on a single layer, while the blue subpixel is split across two layers. This method, referred to as "simplified Tandem" in the industry, could potentially offer enhanced performance and efficiency.

It's important to note that the timeline for the introduction of iPhones with Tandem-OLED display is tentative and subject to change. No specific iPhone model has been identified as the first to feature this new display technology.

Stay tuned for more updates as Apple continues to explore innovative ways to enhance the user experience in its devices.
