On August 7, 2025, a distress call was received about a sinking motorboat with 5 people on board in the sea area before Kressbronn, Goeppingen. The incident sent a wave of concern across Lake Constance, but thanks to the swift action of local authorities and emergency services, the situation was swiftly brought under control.

Upon receiving the call, forces from nearby fire departments, the German Life Saving Association (DLRG), a rescue helicopter, and the Friedrichshafen Water Police were dispatched. Upon reaching the stranded boat, a towline was established and no pumping was necessary. The motorboat was then towed to the Langenargen yacht harbor after being stabilized.

Fortunately, there were no personal injuries or material damages reported in the motorboat incident. The boat owners had panicked after seeing white smoke and a large amount of water when opening the engine hatch, leading them to suspect the boat was flooding. However, investigations at the damaged motorboat revealed a defect in the cooling system in the bilge of the engine room. No hazardous materials were released into Lake Constance during the incident.

Regrettably, the name of the police officer or the leader who directed the rescue operation of the sinking motor yacht was not provided in the news article. For any further information or inquiries, the contact information for the Police Headquarters Deployment is as follows:

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks for motorboats. It's always better to be safe than sorry when out on the water. Let's hope for fewer such incidents in the future and continued safe boating for all.
