Valencia's vice president abandoned the Cecopi assembly on the specified day of the dan, to participate in an award ceremony instead.
In the midst of a meteorological red alert on October 29, 2021, the Vice President of the Valencian Government, Susana Camarero, joined a remote meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi).
The meeting, which focused on the effect of the rains on a residence in Carlet, was attended by the mayor of Carlet and the Ministry of Emergencies, not Camarero herself. The representative from the Generalitat in Cecopi was in charge of emergency matters.
The increased flow of the Magro River, which was due to the release of the Forata dam on the same day, was a significant point of discussion. The CHJ (Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar) and the Generalitat confirmed this information to Maldita.es.
Camarero, who is also the Minister of Social Services, connected to the meeting between 5:02 PM and 5:40 PM. At 5:40 PM, she left the meeting to attend a event organised by the Valencian business association. Camarero defended that this event was not a gala, but an event of the Confederation of Business Associations of the Valencian Community.
The possible breach of the dam focused the attention of Cecopi "almost from minute one" during the meeting. Camarero blamed the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar and the Aemet for not providing relevant information to Cecopi. She described the information known on October 29 as a "smokescreen" to avoid talking about the Aemet allegedly lying about the flood direction.
Camarero reconnected to the meeting at 8:58 PM, 47 minutes after the alert was sent to mobile phones. The risk 2 for Forata was not communicated until 6:05 PM, after Camarero had left the meeting.
Despite the active meteorological red alert, there is no public information confirming that Camarero was directly involved in emergency measures during the flooding on October 29, 2021. Camarero stated that her Ministry is not part of Cecopi.
It is worth noting that the release of the Forata dam on October 29 resulted in a flow double that of the Ebro River, causing concern and prompting the urgent meeting in Cecopi.
Camarero returned to the meeting for eight minutes before the end, and continued her work during the event she attended, which lasted less than an hour. The exact nature and extent of her involvement in the flooding crisis remains unclear.
